Review Acer V173 Djb 17-Inch LCD Monitor - Black

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>>

I don't know what other people are talking about. I use this monitor to play games with on my PC. It is certainly useful in more than just reading Word Documents. Bright ? what do people mean when they say a TV monitor is not bright enough ? If it isn't turn up the brightness...LOL.. And it certainly isn't "Cheap" feeling.
IT ISN'T a Widescreen...DUH, so don't complain about it not being one or compare it to a widescreen.
AND it ISN'T a LED BACKLIT Monitor !! All this you know BEFORE you buy it. It's a basic decent 17 inch monitor. My movies look great on it but that is a partial function of my video card too.
I have a top notch Video card and PC and I have found this to be a superb little monitor, but I am going to a larger screen soon, although I'm not crazy about widescreens.
At any rate before you go judging this monitor, think about the rest of your system first. It will certainly bring out the flaws in your integrated video chipsets and inexpensive PCs, but at 17 inches it just doesn't cut it anymore even for "Word Documents".
IF you are still using a 15 inch or even 17 inch CRT it is a nice upgrade for a good price. I have had very good luck with ACER products over the years.........................

Review Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers - Black

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

I did a lot of research and added this monitor to my 2010 Christmas wish list. I was excited to find this baby under my Christmas tree. I'm actually a Dell guy coming from a 5 year old Dell 1905FP LCD. I was nervous not sticking with a Dell but I had an old ViewSonic CRT around 2000 or 2001 and it was great and I simply couldn't pass up adding such an affordable LED monitor to my Christmas list. I did look for a Dell and LG of this size and specs but they couldn't come close to the price. Would I still choose this ViewSonic? Absolutely! You cannot go wrong with this monitor as long as you can find it at a good price ($200-$220).

Styling:
The piano-black plastic looks really nice. The pictures online make the monitor look a little cheap and odd with the clear plastic along the bottom. Once I unboxed the unit and set it up on my desk I was very pleased. The larger glowing power button under the ViewSonic label within the clear plastic is nice. The buttons to navigate the brightness/contrast are touch sensitive which is cool. The base works very well and keeps the monitor in place though I wish it would pivot left to right. The monitor will only pivot forward and back (not left/right or telescope up/down).

Connection:
I have a Dell laptop with a HDMI and VGA output. The monitor only has VGA and DVI input. The lack of the monitor not having HDMI is why I gave it 4 stars. I plan on purchasing a little adapter but still surprised they elected not to incorporate HDMI.................................

Review Apple iPod classic 160 GB Black (7th Generation) NEWEST MODEL by Apple

Apple iPod classic 160 GB (7th Generation) NEWEST MODEL

With the announcement of the new Apple TV, and now the release of the drastically revised iPod Nano, it would appear that Apple is in the process of re-evaluating its product line and re-tooling the entries to match what it perceives to be the needs of the consumer.

With the Apple TV, they have correctly, I believe, simplified the complexity of the original offering, removed any notion of storage, which tended to confuse the average user, and prepared it for an app driven iOS future. They claimed these changes resulted from a close look at the usage of the current Apple TV, and that they made the changes they felt were needed to more closely match what was desired.

The Nano, I believe, follows the same path.

I have an iPhone and and the new Nano. I also have the previous generation Nano. I tend to agree with Apple: I never the older Nano once to watch a video. I never used the contacts, the calendar, nor did I play a game on the Nano. I bought it for jogging, I only used it for jogging.

All those things removed from the new Nano I currently do on my iPhone. These removed features were worthless to me and will not be missed...........................

Review Apple MacBook Pro MD102LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION)

READ  FULL REVIEW CUSTOMER>>>>

I hear people say that these laptops are so overpriced... they really are not.

I was choosing between the macbook pro 13.3 and the dell xps 14. the mbp has comperable specs and ends up being cheaper because you dont have to pay tax when getting it from amazon as apposed to getting the dell from dell. (I would have compared the dell xps 13 but it only comes with second gen i5)

I'll show you :)

Dell XPS 14

3rd gen. i5-3317u @ 1.7ghz

Actually im writing my review from the tablet.
Its been in use for 3 hours now and ive got 54% battery left.
Been doing alot of downloading and such. Will see how the battery life is.
Am impressed with the fit and finish of the tablet. No bloatware. The autocorrect does do some annoying things, but so does my phone.
Its fast.. responsive. Sometimes a bit to responsive.. thinking im trying to change home screens when im not, or thinking
Im trying to select when im scrolling. Will have to see if there are some sensitivity settings.
The screen is gorgeous. Period.
Ive been waiting for a tablet worth buying instead of an ipad. Glad i waited. Will update after ive had some time with it.........................

Review ; Apple iPad

CNET Editors' Rating

4.0 stars Excellent
Review Date:

Average User Rating

4.5 stars 3 user reviews
The good: Apple's new iPad includes a stunning new screen, matched by a quad-core graphic processor and the world's largest app and media store to feed it content. There's a proper 5-megapixel rear camera now, with 1080p recording quality. Optional 4G data from AT&T and Verizon afford an uncompromising mobile experience.
The bad: The new iPad is slightly heavier than last year's model; apps and movies optimized for the screen might take up more space; and ports for HDMI, USB, and SD require adapters.
The bottom line: With a host of improvements--faster graphics, 4G wireless options, a better camera, and a gorgeous high-res screen--the latest iPad cements its position at the head of the tablet pack.
Editors' note: This review was updated March 18, 2012, with CNET Labs battery test results. Also, we made correction to the new iPad's screen brightness. We will be conducting additional testing over the next few days. As such, our final editors' rating may change.
Apple's new iPad is a mix of the familiar and the futuristic. Its design remains practically unchanged from last year's iPad 2. Its internal components and wireless capabilities have only received a predictable bump. You'd think Apple fell asleep at the wheel with this one--until that moment when you turn on the screen.
When I tell you that Apple has doubled the iPad's screen resolution to an unprecedented 2,048x1,536 pixels, your eyes should water a little. No other screen in your home can compete with this resolution--not your laptop, not your desktop computer, not even your 1080p TV. For a device that fits in your lap and costs as little as $499, a screen like this is an impressive feat.

Speaking of pricing, the going rate for an iPad hasn't changed since the tablet's introduction in 2010. The $499 entry-level price buys you 16GB of built-in storage; spending $599 buys you twice the room (32GB); and $699 will bring you up to 64GB. All three models can access the Internet over Wi-Fi and are available in either black or white. If you want the added ability to access the Internet over a 4G or 3G cellular network (Verizon or AT&T), tack on an extra $130.
For the iPad uninitiated looking to save a little money, Apple is keeping around the 2011 iPad 2 (16GB), priced at $399 or $529 for a model with 3G (AT&T or Verizon). It's a good price, especially considering that the iPad 2 is still leagues better than many of the tablets we've seen this year. But if you want the bragging rights and a renewed lease on the cutting edge of tablet technology, the new iPad is the way to go.
Design
Looking at the new iPad, you'd think someone was playing a trick on you. It looks almost exactly like last year's model. The tablet's glass and aluminum construction is still 9.5 inches tall and 7.31 inches wide. Thickness is now up slightly at 0.37 inch, weighing in at a beefier 1.44 pounds. You get the same home button on the bottom of the screen, and a volume rocker on the right side along with the mute switch/rotation lock. Up top you have the sleep/wake button and headphone output, and the bottom edge retains the 30-pin port.

Apple's retreat from being one of the thinnest, lightest tablets on the market may leave some room for competitors. Already, we're seeing tablets like the Toshiba Excite X10 LE, which are thinner than the iPad 2 and just as light. Apple is betting that a best-in-class screen will trump any concerns over the slight uptick in weight and thickness. And if they're wrong, well, the iPad 2 is still around for those who can't bear the extra 51 grams.
But the surefire way to tell a new iPad apart from an iPad 2 (aside from counting pixels or breaking out the scale) is to flip them over. No, this isn't a tablet gender test; what you're looking for here is the rear camera in the top-left corner. On the new model, the camera is slightly larger, accounting for the improved optics and camera sensor, similar to what's used in the iPhone 4S (though not identical).

New features
Beyond the vastly improved screen there are a number of other upgrades worth mentioning. The iPad's processor has been upgraded to what Apple is calling an A5X. Like the A5 processor used in the iPad 2, this CPU remains dual-core. The "X" is there to signify that the graphics processor has been beefed up to quad-core. This seems to be a necessary measure for juggling four times the pixels of the previous model, but regardless, games and graphics perform fluidly.
Against everyone's expectations, Apple did not include its Siri digital assistant on the new iPad--at least, not entirely. Siri's voice-to-text dictation capability has migrated to the iPad, but that's it. If you want to find nearby sushi restaurants, you're going to have to search for the answer online, like a neanderthal.
Still, the addition of voice dictation is a welcome feature, and it can be handy for composing quick e-mails and bypassing the touch-screen keyboard when searching for information online. Its accuracy leaves a little to be desired, though. Just like autocorrected typing, the iPad's dictation isn't infallible.

Last but not least, there's the iPad's updated rear camera, which the company calls its iSight camera. It is a huge improvement over the iPad 2's 0.7-megapixel shooter; this updated shooter is now 5 megapixels. If you've spent any time over on Apple's iPad page, you've probably seen the exploded view of Apple's five-element lens system, which was adopted from the iPhone. However you want to explain it, the photo quality is exceptional for a tablet, and we have the photos to prove it.
I still contend that it's a bit silly waving a tablet around to capture photos and video, but I understand the counterpoint and I'll admit that the iPad's screen makes a better display than any camera, smartphone, or photo frame.
Features we take for granted
Let's not forget all the features that made the first two iPads unbeatable. If you've ever used an iPhone or iPod Touch, the new iPad will feel immediately familiar. Out of the box, you get many of the iPhone's capabilities, including Apple-designed apps for Web browsing, e-mail, maps, photos, music, video, and YouTube. More apps can be installed using the built-in App Store software or by connecting the iPad to iTunes via your computer using the included cable. If you already own apps purchased for an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can transfer these apps to the iPad, as well.
The original iPad made its debut with iOS 3.2. That OS' limitations seem prehistoric today. You couldn't bounce between applications with multitasking. You couldn't organize applications into folders. And support for document printing and AirPlay streaming of music, videos, and photos didn't arrive until November 2010.
At launch, the new iPad comes with iOS 5.1 (see our full rundown). Recently added features such as iMessage, Newsstand, Notifications, and Twitter integration are all included, along with support for Apple's free iCloud online backup service.
One sticking point in the original iPad that Apple hasn't addressed in the new iPad is Adobe Flash support for Apple's Safari Web browser. Apple seems dead set against supporting Adobe's popular tool for presenting video and graphics on the Web, and without it, some corners of the Web are still inaccessible on the iPad.
To Apple's credit, even the maker of Flash (Adobe) has conceded that HTML5 is a better solution for presenting content on mobile devices going forward. As such, the Web is steadily bending toward greater compatibility with the iPad, and the issue of Flash compatibility seems less contentious than it once was.
In terms of browser features, the iPad's Safari browser matches what you'll find from the best competing tablets. With Google's recent improvements to Android's Chrome Web browser in Android 4.0, Apple now has some tough competition.
But in terms of the subjective Web-browsing experience, Apple's Retina Display gives the new iPad a decisive victory. Because text is rendered with such razor-sharp clarity, everything from Facebook to The New York Times take on a printlike quality that is easier on the eyes than what any laptop or tablet offers.
To 4G or not to 4G?
For those who just get a little itchy at the idea of not being connected to the Internet, Apple offers a version of the iPad with an integrated 4G cellular data connection, priced at a $130 premium over models that only offer Wi-Fi.
The jury seems split on whether the added cost of a cellular data capability is money well spent, or an unnecessary expense. Ultimately, if you can afford it, do it. Aside from the 10 grams it adds to the iPad's overall weight, there are no drawbacks to owning an iPad 4G model other than the data plan it requires. Yet, unlike so many 4G tablets on the market, Apple's requires no contracts; the data plans you purchase month to month can be ratcheted up and down as you please.
Another advantage of iPad with 4G is the added capability of assisted GPS (A-GPS), allowing users to accurately pinpoint their locations on a map and take advantage of navigation and location-aware apps. The Wi-Fi-only models of the iPad can use rudimentary Wi-Fi hot-spot triangulation techniques to guess locations, but are much less accurate and consistent.
The 4G version of the iPad also includes a 4G hot-spot capability, allowing other Wi-Fi devices (laptops, tablets, portable media players) to take advantage of the cellular data. At launch, only Verizon's iPad 4G supported this hot-spot feature, but AT&T may eventually offer the service, as well. Our tested download and upload speeds using the iPad as a 4G hot spot found a slight, but negligible drop in data performance.
If you have no plans to regularly use the iPad outside of your home, you'd do just as well to save some money and stick with a Wi-Fi model. But if you do take the plunge, the 4G download performance on either network should knock your socks off, provided that you live in an area that supports it. For more, see our separate CNET How To on choosing the right carrier for the iPad, as well as a side-by-side comparison of each carrier's 4G LTE service.
iPad as e-reader
As far as e-book content goes, the iPad has you covered. Every major e-book retailer (and quite a few specialized stores) offer an iPad app, including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Kobo, Google Books, Stanza, and Apple's own iBooks.
Mainstream magazines, including The New Yorker, Wired, and Vanity Fair, all have iPad-specific editions. Even specialty publications, such as comic books, test prep, and sheet music, have found their way onto the iPad.
But when you compare the experience of reading on the iPad with its paper-based ancestor or dedicated e-ink readers, the iPad still falls short. It's beefy at 1.44 pounds (a Kindle Touch weighs under half a pound), and in spite of the Retina Display's exquisitely rendered text, glare is still an issue--especially outdoors. Also, a product like the Nook Simple Touch promises up to two months of reading without a recharge, whereas the iPad will only get you 10 hours.
In spite of all these criticisms, the iPad has already proven itself a success as an e-reader. There are certainly cheaper options out there, but none with the breadth of features and e-book shopping options offered by the iPad.

Review Samsung EC-PL120 Digital Camera with 14.2 MP and 5x Optical Zoom (Black)

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

I almost did not purchase this camera because of some negative reviews. However, I have and I'd like to address the negative comments.

BLURRY PICTURES - when taken in low light conditions:
YES - this does occur. It did when I used the camera for the first time.
REASON - the user may not see the funky 'hand' that is displayed which indicates a questionable photo.
The simple solution is to set the MODE to 'SMART AUTO' ! THIS SHOULD BE THE DEFAULT MODE for the camera.
The first photos I took in low light were blurry. I thought the camera was defective. After I went into the user manual (which was NOT a hard copy but a disk) I figured out what was going on. Samsung should put in instructions on how to use the 'common' functions of a camera.

DIFFICULT TO USE:
MAYBE YES - For the 'average user' who has little experience in photography. But only -IF- they do not set the camera in 'SMART AUTO', or try and figure out what all the MENU items are.
If you just want to POINT AND SHOOT set the MODE to SMART AUTO.

For the EXPERIENCED user this camera allows you to create photos any way you want. It's quite amazing how many settings you can manipulate......................

Review Samsung i5800 Galaxy 3 Unlocked Touchscreen Phone with Android OS, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.1 MP Camera+Video--International Version with Warranty (Black)

My lovely device
I'm really enjoying this phone. I use free android market's app. such as several types of dictionaries, e-readers, books stores, TV news, games, etc.
Especially good for me - Skype works very well!! that is important because i haven't a plan but just T-mobile card and also make calls to Europe.
Battery life is shorter than I wanted, but having second battery...
versus
Very slow
This cell phone is cheap, so the screen quality is regular, and it's very slow doing normal things like browsing, view pictures and applications. I think that the RAM is very low and CPU too.
You must use a microSD card, cause internal memory is low too.

Review Samsung Galaxy S III / S3 Unlocked GSM Smart Phone (Marble White)

From iPhone 4S to Galaxy S3
Like many of you I have been reading all of these "reviews" from people who don't own the device and was unsure on what to do and what I'd be receiving.

versus
worst screen ever, flimsy body.
First of all, this phone is fast and slim, I really like the physical home button and the screen size. I was surprised that none of you guys care about how bad the screen is, the Amoled is tooo harsh, it is like some light blinking to your eyes and you get eye sore right away. color temperature is too cold (a white background is always blue), trust me, you will never see...

Review Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem in New Official Manufacturer Brown Box (Environmentally Safe) - Non-Retail Box, 100% New and Complete SB-6121

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

Motorola's SB6121 cable modem is one of the best cable modems available on the market right now, if not THE best. It is a full DOCSIS-3.0 modem, but also fully backwards compatible with DOCSIS 2.0 and all the way back to DOCSIS 1.0. In short, it should work on any cable system. It is future-ready with IPv6 support built in.

I bought the SB6121 to replace a D-Link DCM202 which had started randomly dropping the connection several times a week, sometimes multiple times a day. Installation is trouble-free; just connect the cables and notify your cable company. (Have the MAC address from the label on the bottom of the modem handy when you call.) Many cable users report speed gains on updating to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem; I'm no exception -- my download speed went from 11.5Mbps to 12.8Mbps, and my upload speed increased by 50% from 960Kbps to 1.5Mbps.

Interface-wise, there's not a lot to say. The Motorola SB6121's colored graphical-icon LED indicators are much easier to identify and read from a distance than the D-Link's closely spaced row of identical yellow-green LEDs. You can look at it from across the room and see two steady blues and one blinking amber, and know at a glance you're in good shape..............................

Review Motorola SB6121 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>>

Out of nowhere, I was having excruciatingly slow internet speed on Comcast. The Comcast tech advised that my Motorola SB 4100 was at the "end of life" and that I should upgrade. Skeptical, I purchased this modem which is a DOCSIS 3.0 (and backwards compatible) modem. It worked. I went from a 2mbps download speed to over 17mbps. What a difference. There was one installation glitch that you need to be aware of. When you hook up the modem (connect the coax cable, connect the ethernet cable, and plug it in, that's it), and then try to get online, it will direct you to a Comcast self-activation screen (no other site is available). After entering my account number and phone number and hitting the "next" button, I got a blank screen, and nothing happens. So I called Comcast and they said that usually happens if you are doing an upgrade; it mostly works only for a new service connection. However, it is a simple matter to give the tech your MAC address and the serial number. After about 5 minutes, while..................................

Review PanDigital 72-70FW 7-Inch Tablet Computer - White Refurbished

I bought this as a birthday present for my mom. She enjoys surfing the web right before bedtime and had been using her ipod touch, but the screen is soooo little it's hard for her to see anything. She is also disabled and there are days that she is in bed or on the couch all day unable to move. I wanted her to have something larger that was a multi-tasker that was easy to use. SHE LOVES THIS TABLET!! It has taken her a few days to get the hang of it, and she says she still hasn't discovered all of the bells and whistles, but it lets her surf the web without having to sit at a desk where the computer is. It's also an ereader and the built in Barnes and Noble app is awesome and very easy to use. It also comes with a couple of games (one of them is solitaire, she was thrilled :) )But she has already downloaded a few more from the app store. In my opinion, it is totally worth the cost and I am just thankful to see her so happy..........................

Review LifeProof iPhone 4/4S Case White

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

Ok. So I read the reviews on Amazon about this case. And despite the concerns, I can assure you this case is EXCELLENT! In fact, my initial reaction to the case was negative. So here we go...

When I opened the box, I was initially disappointed to see two flimsy case pieces that snap together with no instructions! I thought this was a joke. $80 for this? It refers you to a web site where you have to watch a few videos. So, I gave it a shot. The videos are short and helpful. The first video suggests you do a waterproof test on your case for a full hour! I tested mine for about a half hour and I think that is even overkill.

Now the fun begins. You can put your iPhone in the case. This process was very simple. After the case is on, now you feel the full effect of awesome protection. Some reviews said the there was a gap between the front of the plastic portion of the case and the iphone, causing air pockets. That did not occur for me. It was an absolute perfect seal. I actually did this twice, once for my girlfriend, and on mine with no trouble. All the buttons work perfectly........................

Review LifeProof Case for iPhone 4/4S - Retail Packaging - Black

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

I purchased this case directly from Lifeproof when I got my iPhone 4S in October of 2011. I installed my iPhone directly into the case and have used it daily since then.

This case is indeed very slim for the level of protection provided. The screen protector does not appear to impair the usefulness of the touchscreen. The phone is entirely encased when installed.

The claims made on the site appear to be true, so I won't repeat them here.

There are two cons, however. First, accessing the headphone jack is very inconvenient. You have to unscrew a plug, that can then easily be lost. This also limits the types of plugs that will mate with the headphone jack.

Second, and more annoying is that the port through which you have to plug a iPod cable to charge or sync is VERY tight. If you have any third party cable that is even a tiny bit bigger than Apple's, it won't fit. You'll either need the suggested RadTech passthrough connector or an original Apple cable. If you only use OEM cables, this won't bother you, but otherwise it's quite annoying........................

Review Coby LEDTV1526 15-Inch LED TV 720p 60 Hz with HDMI

Great Value LED
I got this TV on sale via Amazon Lightning Deals. It is definitely worth a 400 price tag. The speakers can be loud, but obviously with this thin TV, don't expect any bass. The picture looks great on this LED, and I personally didn't notice any edge bleeding while watching X-men Origin in blu-ray. If you see this item go on sale, snatch it up! However, I'd have to say it's...

Not bad, but there are a ton of better options
I bought this TV at Sears a few months ago for my bedroom, when they had it on sale for about 500 dollars. I thought at the time that 500 bucks (+tax) was a good deal on the relatively new LED technology, and the guy who worked there sold me on the fact that it takes about 1/4 the amount of electricity that my Vizio plasma uses. However, I later found that for a bit more,...

I have used this camera a couple of times since receiving it for Christmas. I have used both the strap mount for my vented bicycle helmet as well as the permanent stick on mount for my dual sport motorcycle helmet. In both cases, the mounts work as well as the camera. I still have the previous generation GoPro HERO in standard definition, but not in the wide field of view lens configuration like the current HD version. I like the wide field of view of this HD model.
It is great at giving a very good view of both the trail as will as your handlebar movements while riding both my mountain bike or motorcycle. The quality of the video is fantastic. The files do get large, but that is to be expected with the high resolution of this camera. I have been using a 16GB SDHC card and have filed up about half of it on one battery charge. I would recommend a high speed card reader to improve the download times from the card. A 12 min video was nearly a gigabyte. The battery last I think longer than the previous standard definition camera which ran on AAA batteries. I think that I will buy an additional battery someday for long rides with lots of action..............

Review Acer S201HL bd 20-Inch Widescreen Ultra-Slim LED Display - Black

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

I got this one to replace my older i-Inc. monitor. It really is an improvement. Rich colors, really good contrast. I calibrated it (crudely, by using software called MCW). Really nice after calibration. One thing I did not like at all is how much side-illumination shows up. I guess those LEDs do need to be bright enough, but I never thought they would be THIS noticeable. It shows as a veil of dark gray around the perimeter of the screen. And when whatever on the screen is dark enough you will see it. Sometimes barely noticeable, sometimes annoyingly obvious. And one other thing. The power supply is a separate brick - like in the laptop. Plan on locating it behind the monitor, etc. Otherwise - a very nice monitor, no dead pixels, no other issues............................

Review Viewsonic VX2453MH-LED 24-Inch Ultra-thin Widescreen LED Monitor - Black

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

This monitor has taken some flack for the way it sounds, so I will review this first. As far as sound goes, the built-in speakers are not very nice sounding from what I tried of them, although this was without the included software which is intended to improve their sound output. However, fitting amazing speakers in such a tight place as this really thin monitor is not possible due to the reality of sound production requiring a certain speaker size to produce various frequencies due to simple physics of vibration creation. If you want good sound though, all you have to do is buy a nice, inexpensive pair of computer speakers such as Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer and plug them into the sound output on the back of the monitor and it will route all of the sound input from the HDMI into them, which is quite nice.

That said, keep in mind that first and foremost you are purchasing an LCD monitor. Its true purpose is to display your desktop, images, videos and etc from your computer (or your Xbox 360, PS3, Blu-Ray player and etc), not to play sound. In that realm, as far as 24" monitors go from what I have seen and used, this is simply the best I have seen when compared to displays from vendors such as ASUS and Apple. The colours are extremely vivid and the viewing angles are very nice (can see movies/games from the extreme sides). The back-lighting is perfectly balanced, non-bleeding and it is great for watching HD movies as well as playing games or doing standard web browsing. It is also extremely thin and light despite being 24"............................

Review Best Seller Xbox 360 Console

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

I've been an xbox 360 user since 2007 and have been happy with it (as a "hardcore" gamer). This purchase was for my parents in their living room to use netflix and video chat with family hundreds of miles away. Here are my pros and cons for the console itself, then kinect:

PROS of the xbox 360 Console
+ Easy setup, take it out of the box, plug in the power, the hdmi and pop the batteries in the controller (I setup kinect after the 360).
+ 1 month free xbox live (bought a 12 month as well so 13 months).
+ Easy wifi-N setup!
+ The xbox itself has great wifi, I was worried about streaming netflix in HD but so far it's worked flawlessly, after the initial buffer, movies play perfectly from start to end. Also, streaming video files (like xvid and divx) on a home network wirelessly to the 360 works perfectly as well, in the midst of properly renaming my backed up tv shows and movies (no mkv support of course :/)
+ With windows 7, setting up a shared folder for the xbox to find and use for video playback was pretty easy.
+ Touch sensitive buttons for power and dvd eject is pretty cool, makes the unit feel a bit more high tech.
+ Smaller size of the 360 (while not much smaller) is noticeable and looks very pleasing to the eye
+ Adding 8gb of extra hdd space with a thumb drive is pretty sweet, later (if they need it the space) I'll buy a used hard drive............................

Review Xbox 360 Console

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

The best Xbox so far. The matte finish, price, 4GB internal is plenty for game saves and some add-ons. If you want more memory, just add 1-2 16GB USB flash sticks. I use USB drives for game saves and full game installs. This way I never have to worry about IF the system breaks on me. I'll always have my personal saves on the flash sticks. I never trust hard drives as they are more prone to fail over a flash stick. Thats why I didn't keep the 250GB version. Plus I don't do demos so I don't need that kind of space. Matte finish does not collect dust and hair like the gloss version does which drove me crazy as I did own the 250GB version for a short time until this version came out. VERY HAPPY with the arcade......................

Friday Floor Plan Porn: Steven A Klar

SELLER: Steven A. Klar
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $100,000,000
SIZE: 8,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Good grief! We suggest y'all grab a smidge of your favorite mood stabilizer—we're already on our second gin & tonic—and steel yourselves for this one, butter beans. With houses and apartments at the highest of the high end in both Los Angeles and New York selling like water in the desert it seems like everyone with a trophy property—or a property they think is a trophy—wants on the high-priced real estate bandwagon.

Petra Ecclestone (in)famously plunked down $85,000,000 last year for Candy Spelling's 56,000 square foot faux-French-something pile in Los Angeles where rumors have begun to circulate on the real estate gossip grapevine that billionaire widow Dawn Arnall and financier Jeff Greene both want $150,000,000 for their baronial, multi-acre estates, hers in Holmby Hills and his up off Coldwater Canyon in Beverly Hills.

In New York City, L.A.-based billionaire David Geffen just dropped $54,000,000 on Denise Rich's titanic, 12,000 square foot Fifth Avenue duplex, international casino tycoon Steven Wynn dumped a stroke-inducing $70,000,000 on an elegant duplex on Central Park South and Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jabr Al Thani—the Prime Minister of Qatar and the very same fella who was (allegedly) nixed from buying two of reclusive heiress Huguette Clark's Fifth Avenue apartments due to concerns about his 2 wives, 15 children and extensive security detail and entourage—is widely rumored and reported to have coughed up somewhere above $90,000,000 for two full floors atop a still under construction building on West 57th Street.

Today, we first learned at the crack of down from our sleepless aide de camp Hot Chocolate, an eight-sided, three (and some) floor penthouse pad atop a Midtown Manhattan tower popped up on the open market with an international publicity assuring $100,000,000 price tag.

Property records indicate the wedding cake-shaped penthouse is owned by Steven A. Klar, a second generation, Long Island-based builder of middle-brow housing developments with yawn-spurring names like Ponds Edge in Muttontown, The Waterways at Moriches and Hidden Ridge at Scarsdale.

Property records we peeped aren't specific about what Mister Klar paid for the tower topping triplex but it does appear he's owned the place since 1994.

Current listing information shows the octagonal penthouse occupies the entire 73rd-75th floors—plus a wee bit of the 72nd floor—of Midtown Manhattan's City Spire building. The suburban (mc)mansion-sized penthouse measures in at around 8,000 square feet with another 3,000 or so square feet of wrap around terraces on two levels, according to listing details, with honest-to-goodness 360 degree city views. There are a total of six bedrooms and five full and three half bathrooms.

Listing information states the interiors were done by internationally renown interior decorator Juan Pablo Molyneux, whose own opulent Manhattan townhouse recently came up for grabs with a puffy $48,000,000 price tag. Really? Despite all the heavy-duty moldings, the inlaid marble and Parquet de Versailles-style hardwood floors, the lyre back Chippendale chairs and forest's worth of mahogany mill work, the day-core is just so painfully ordinary, drab and, yes, gravely comatose. These are adjectives rarely used when describing Mister Molyneux's more characteristically multi-layered and splendidly sumptuous work. It all looks like a supposed-to-be-really-fancy corporate apartment, luxurious but utterly devoid of personality. In Your Mama's humble and utterly meaningless opinion and with all due respect, this is not some of Mister Molyneux's best work, by far.

Anyhoo, the main living spaces, as shown on the floor plan (above) included with current marketing materials, features an octagonal foyer and adjoining reception gallery with inlaid green marble floor; six-sided and 40-foot long formal living and dining rooms; and an eat in kitchen with center island, butler's pantry, three refrigerators, direct access to the trash chute, and half  bathroom. The floor plan shows extensive storage and closet space in the rear hall that runs between the kitchen and the media room where (the inelegantly and somewhat inconveniently located) access to the upper floors is via a staircase or private elevator.

A second, switchback staircase in the rear hall descends to a walk-in wine cellar and self-contained studio-style suite complete with separate entrance, bedroom/sitting room, two closets, galley kitchen and attached bathroom with wall of city-view windows. This is a perfect set up for a live-in staff person, aging relative, boorish house guest or bratty teenager.

The middle floor, ringed by a narrow terrace guaranteed to make even a daredevil's nether region clench and cramp with High Anxiety, has a bookshelf and closet lined central gallery around which spoke four bedrooms, each with private bathroom. One of the bedrooms is much smaller than the others (and located down the same window-lined corridor as the laundry room) and was probably intended for use by a live-in domestic worker. Two of the bedrooms are divided by what's labeled as a "Conference Room" on the floor plan but could easily be pressed into use as a shared sitting room.

The master suite, privately situated all alone on the top floor, includes a wide entry gallery, reasonable-sized bedroom, adjacent and very narrow sitting room with convenient refrigerator, and a giant bathroom all done in dark wood and green and black marble. A long, window-lined closet/dressing room bends around the penthouse's private elevator to a rear entrance. This is a most excellent situation for a resident who employs a valet or hairdresser who can discreetly enter the suite through the rear entrance in the closet, do their business and leave without ever having to enter the more intimate areas of the suite.

Probably this could be a magnificent if quirky penthouse but, for what it's worth—and it ain't worth a damn thing—Your Mama thinks this place needs to be gutted and completely re-worked to resolve some of the less than optimal circulation patterns. Anyone want to give it a go?

The dome-topped, mixed-use City Spire building stands more than 800 feet tall and offers residents of this 300-and-some units full service amenties such as full-time dooman, a concierge, fitness center with swimming pool, children's play room, an on-site underground garage and a ground floor Dean & DeLuca market for gorgeous if expensive gourmet groceries and prepared foods. For all that Mister Klar's coughs up a total of $19,472 in monthly common charges and real estate taxes.

Review Apple MacBook Pro MD101LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION)

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

This is not my first Mac computer, and certainly will not be my last. Before I begin, I will say that I am not like a good percentage of the people that will end up writing a review on this computer - I am not an Apple fanboy. I have owned many PC computers as well, and like them too. I currently own a Lenovo laptop as well as my new MacBook Pro, and each have their own strengths and weaknesses.

To start with the strengths:
1. OSX Lion is a great performer..extremely fast and reliable. I have it installed on my iMac desktop computer as well and love it. Not to mention this comes with a free upgrade to Mountain Lion, which is very nice.
2. Screen looks great. Even though it is not the Retina display you can get on the 15.4 inch model, the screen is fantastic. Very bright and crystal clear with excellent color.
3. Quietest laptop I have ever owned. Keeps quiet even when the computer is under a heavy load.
4. First computer I have owned with USB 3.0. I bought an external hard drive when I purchased this laptop as well so I could utilize the USB 3.0. I got the hard drive yesterday and transferred all of my files from my old laptop to the new hard drive so I could put them on my MacBook. It took about 1/5th of the time it did with USB 2.0.
5. My Lenovo laptop does not have an illuminated keyboard, so the keyboard on this laptop is a big plus in my opinion. Excellent for people that like to work or surf the web while their significant other is sleeping.
6. The trackpad - can't even compare it to any trackpad I have seen on any other laptop computer.
7. Excellent battery life while being a very fast performer. It definitely has the best of both worlds. I average about 6 hours on a charge. My Lenovo (with similar graphics, processor, etc. and same use) only lasts about 4 or 5 hours on a full charge........................

Review Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1-Inch, Wi-Fi)

READ  FULL REVIEW>>>

After using an iPad 1 and iPad 2, hearing how everyone praises the iPad line, and knowing that iPad is seemingly synonymous with "tablet computer," I was ready to try the Samsung Galaxy Tab and presumed it would be a good, but inferior experience to those other devices. Boy, was I wrong. It is a far superior device to the iPad, in many ways:

- It is lighter.

- It is snappier. Regardless of specs, the Samsung just feels faster and more responsive.

- It is easier to use. Yes, I said it. With the iPad, I have to hunt for things like the back button, whereas on the Samsung, it's always there at the bottom. Things just seem more intuitive on Android.

- It is easier to program. You don't need a $99 developer license and a provisioning file that allows you to deploy to a specific unit. And you don't need to use a low-level, proprietary programming language.

- Samsung's browser works according to existing global standards, compared to other companies that change the way the browser works just because they feel like it. As a result, on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, all web sites just work the way they are supposed to..................
